It's a beastly SUV that's specially built for customers who want to venture deep into the wild.

The Ford Bronco is the first SUV model from the Blue Oval and had been around for five generations, beginning from 1966 until 1996. Ford then introduced the sixth generation of a thoroughly updated Ford Bronco from the 2021 model year. Notably, the 2022 Bronco has two special editions which includes the Bronco Raptor and the Bronco Everglades.

The Everglades special edition is specifically engineered and equipped to handle challenging terrains and weather conditions with confidence. As you must have noticed, the SUVs are taking their names from national parks across America, such as the Everglades. The logic, of course, is for you to see this Bronco model as the ultimate vehicle that can help overcome the waterlogged and difficult terrain of the Florida Everglades. This will surely give you a vivid imagination of what the Bronco Everglades is built to do.

Ford says the 2022 Bronco Everglades is specially made for customers who want to venture deep into the wild, assured of a factory-installed snorkel, integrated 10,000-pound ZEON 10-S WARN® winch, and Sasquatch™ Package.

The 2022 Ford Bronco Everglades has three key features equally serving as its primary selling points. The first is the Sasquatch Package comprising 17-inch carbonized gray-painted alloy wheels with 35-inch LT315/70R17 BSW Mud-Terrain tires, electronic-locking front / rear axles, 4.7 final drive ratio, high-clearance suspension, position-sensitive Bilstein shock absorbers, and high-clearance fender flares.

The Second is an all-new-for-the-Bronco WARN Industries-developed factory-installed Ford Performance Winch Kit. Speaking of which, Bronco chief engineer Jolanta Coffey said, “Bronco customers like to explore new places, but some want to go even further off the trail than others. Everglades is specially equipped to enable these customers to tackle even more challenging terrains and trails – and with the front bumper-mounted winch, they can help others out of trouble, while they’re at it.”

For us, the best feature on the Everglades is the Ford-first, factory-installed snorkel system ingeniously engineered to optimize performance in extreme conditions such as dust storms, snow, or water. To wit, Everglades comes with extended vents for the front and rear axles, transfer case, and transmission to enable the Bronco ford water of up to 36.4 inches, making it ready to trudge through muddy areas and challenging treks.

Go ahead and compare that to the latest Wrangler Rubicon’s 33.6 inches or the Land Rover Defender’s 35.4 inches. Ford’s air intake system specialist David McNarney said the snorkel system posed the toughest engineering challenge of the Everglades package. They had to keep the intake flow restrictions in line with the base 2.3-liter setup, which required maintaining the correct cross-channel flow through the larger intake.

They're much flatter than usual, but must not be misjudged as less-than-heavy-duty. As the faceplates are reversible, drivers can switch the air intake from the snorkel's front or back. Impressive. The reversible faceplates equally promote the longevity of the air filter since it doesn’t have to ‘suffer’ as much.

Also, Bronco Everglades offers 77.6 cu. ft. of cargo space, not counting the black roof rails with a crossbar. Just as cool are the removable doors and top. The cowl-mounted side view mirrors stay in place when you remove the doors. A removable hardtop is standard on the 2-door model, while the removable soft-top is standard on the 4-door model.

As of July 2022, Ford says the current model year is no longer available for retail orders due to high demand for the SUVs with limited inventory available at selected dealers. Customer deliveries for the Ford Bronco Everglades became available starting summer 2022, with order banks opening on March 9, although customers had been making reservations since last September.

According to Ford, the only way to get your hands on either the 2022 Raptor or Everglades is to have an unscheduled order prior to March 7, 2022. That's the catch to owning a Bronco Everglades at least this year; it's only available to customers with an existing reservation for the 2022 model year.

The speed with which the Broncos sold out is not surprising at all. Official figures see cumulative deliveries of the Broncos in the U.S. increase to 125%, amounting to 52,662 units in the first quarter of 2022. The Bronco is an excellent offroader, and the special-edition Everglades is even better for outdoorsy individuals who enjoy the challenge of squaring off with nature or, as Ford puts it, ‘going further off the grid.’

This is the SUV that breathes when the air gets thick and presses on when others turn tail. That’s why the snorkel system is its best feature. Everglades is a 4-door 5-passenger model with defining features, including a factory-installed snorkel, integrated front bumper-mounted winch, and the special Bronco Sasquatch package comprising off-road equipment.

These features fully support Everglade’s quest to continue the decades-long Bronco tradition of rummaging through remote locations with what the Blue Oval calls a ‘Goes Over Any Type of Terrain (GOAT)’ mentality. The ingenious integrated snorkel system is actually a first for Ford, and it’s right at home with an AT SUV dubbed Everglades. The Ford Co-Pilot360 and Sasquatch are standard packages on the Everglades.

Standard safety and security features include Personal Safety System™, First Row: Driver and Passenger Dual-Stage Front, First Row: Driver and Passenger Seat Side, All Rows: Safety Canopy® Side-Curtain with Rollover Sensor, Lower Anchors and Tether Anchors for Children (LATCH) - Each Second Row Seating Position, Individual Tire Pressure Monitoring System (ITPMS), Belt-Minder® (Front Row), Trailer Sway Control, Perimeter alarm, LED Headlamps with LED Signature Lighting, Auto High-Beam Headlamps, Rear View Camera, and AdvanceTrac® with RSC® (Roll Stability Control™.

The 2022 Ford Bronco Everglades is powered by turbocharged three engine types, including 2.3-liter Ti-VCT GTDI I-4, 2.7-liter Ti-VCT GTDI V6, and 3.0-liter Ti-VCT GTDI V6, all with EcoBoost, and mated to either 7-speed manual or 10-speed automatic transmission. The inline-4 is good for 275 horsepower and 315 lb-ft of torque with regular fuel, while the V6s are good for 315 horses and 410 lb-ft of torque. However, with premium fuel, the output for the V6s are 300 hp and 325 lb-ft of torque as well as 330 hp and 415 lb-ft of torque, respectively.
