For Thanksgiving this year, we bring you an author whose narrative may be contrary to what you learned in school. Tommy Orange's novel "There" tells a cruel, extraordinary and necessary local history. This is also a story about the shameful way the United States still treats indigenous peoples. As early as 2018, Orange was uncomfortable with his new rising fame. But he told Lynn Neary of NPR that paving the way for young Aboriginal writers, spotlights, etc. are important to him.
