Alyssha McFadden charged in connection with fatal car accident on Westport Road

According to Louisville police, two people were killed in a car accident near Woodlawn Park on Saturday.

George and Margaret Herbig, 82 and 76 years old, were driving along Westport Road when their SUV collided with another car. 

Herbigs tried to turn left from Ambridge Drive into the eastbound lane of Westport Road when their vehicle rammed a vehicle traveling westward. Around 5 pm, the police received a call about the incident 

Herbigs was pronounced dead on the spot. The driver of the other car was identified in court records as 31-year-old Alyssha McFadden and was taken to the hospital without life-threatening.

According to court records, McFadden of Louisville was charged with two counts of murder and one count of driving a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol in connection with a car accident.

The police found an opened alcohol container in her car at the scene of the accident. Her arrest warrant stated that after the accident, her blood alcohol concentration in the hospital was 0.210.

McFadden was scheduled to be subpoenaed on Friday and did not immediately list a lawyer in court records.

The LMPD Transportation Department led the investigation.

Metro Congresswoman Paula McCraney said in a statement over the weekend that she was "sad" by the news and that her area includes the accident site.

The statement said: "While waiting for the LMPD transportation department's investigation report, I pray that the injured will recover as soon as possible and express my sincere condolences to the families of the victims."
